I love love the look of floppy hats. It's always reminded me of the ladies at the pony races and it's a little bit glamorous and fun! So I finally bought myself a big black floppy hat for $3 at a swap meet a couple months ago. I figured I would wear it to the beach this Summer, but I'm not sure how I feel about using this as part of my regular weekend wear. As much as I love the look, when I put it on just to run around town I feel like maybe I look a little too over the top...so I'm torn. What do you think of the look as regular weekend wear? I need your votes: Wear the hat around town or keep it as a beach only look?
I would SO adore someone who just wore a big flouncy hat around town on the weekend.. but I don't know. I would probably feel silly.
ReplyDeleteI love floppy hats. When I was living in Brazil I would go to my aunt's closet borrow her hats. She has a huge collection. I have a couple too, not so fancy as hers. But I wear them and don't have any problem with it. It's kind of weird for the first days, but then you realize that they are cute AND (most importantly) they do protect your face from the sun. I usually wear when I take the bike or walk.
ReplyDeleteI love hats!! My floppy one I wear at the beach but I have a couple of smaller ones I wear around town.
ReplyDeleteI know that I'd feel ridiculous wearing a floppy hat around town, but there are two reasons for that: I'm not really a hat person, and I just can't pull the look off. If you can work it, I say do so!

ReplyDeleteThose of us who can't pull it off appreciate those who dare to do so! So, I say wear your silly hat! It would look great with a red vintage bicycle!

ReplyDeletei LOVE mine. i bought it almost as a joke but realized it's a quick fix for my fair skin when i don't have time for the spf 8000. i do feel a little over the top (in a glamorous, movie star kind of way, of course) but then i remind myself i won't be getting skin cancer anytime soon and suddenly i feel all better :) go for it!
ReplyDeleteI love them! I want one now :)
ReplyDeleteI would probably wear it at the beach or for beachy outdoor brunches. Adorable for summer...
I love them but love them best for vacation or the beach!
ReplyDeleteI can imagine you would feel silly thinking about wearing a big floppy hat around town as im exactly the same. but when i see people who are wearing them, i always look at them and think they look amazing. so i rekon wear it with confidence and no one will think you look silly :)
ReplyDeleteive just come across your lovely blog and i am now a new follower :)

I absolutely love them...if you have the confidence to wear them they can be so lovely. They shouldn't be beach only...definitly weekend wear!!
ReplyDeletei'm loving it. i think it would take me a bit to be comfortable wearing it regularly, but i definitely think it would be pretty awesome. do it!
ReplyDeleteI love these! I greatly regret getting rid of a couple of chic ones I had...
ReplyDeleteI looove the floppy hats! I think if worn right, a floppy hat can totally work for a weekday look, but I'm thinking I like it better at the beach!

ReplyDeleteI would definitely wear a floppy hat as part of my regular weekend wear.
ReplyDeleteI love the outfits they're paired with above...especially the white T and the print shorts.
