Malibu-bu Beach

Does anyone remember that TV show Mailbu Shores with Keri Russel? I mean I don't think it even lasted a full season before it got pulled off the air, but ever since my sisters and I saw those few episodes we can't just say "Malibu". Everytime we say the word it's "Malibu-bu". Anyway, a little while back the man and I spent the weekend in Malibu-bu and here's a couple pics from the beach. It was beautiful weather and overall a perfect way to spend the weekend with our toes in the sand.

Maybe someday Danny I'll find enough money to buy you that boat!

Swimwear Search 2010

I'm a little late in the game, but I'm finally starting my Swimwear Search 2010. The dreaded search for the perfect suit that almost always ends in frustration and compromise. Well this year Dan and I have a trip planned to Belize, Cozumel, Honduras, and a couple Caribbean islands....so I know it's getting very late in the Summer but I'll be damned if I can't find SOMETHING that will look halfway great on me since I'm bound to spend 80% of our trip in swimwear. That also reminds me that it's been over 3 months now since I've done any exercise and I should seriously start thinking about getting back to that.

Here are some options that I'm thinking about trying on. The problem with waiting until it's almost August to look for a swimsuit, is that a lot of places are very sold out. I might have to buy online and just return it if it doesn't work out (I really really don't like the thought of not trying on a suit before I purchase it, but most online sites have such great return policies these days I suppose it's not that big of deal). Luckily I have a couple/few months to find a couple/few suits, but since I'm picky and self-conscious about how these might fit...I don't want to be stuck at the last minute with boring old suits in beautiful exotic places. What do you think? Any favorites or other suggestions?

My Closet: 70's beach dress

Hello Yellow! My mom used to wear this bright terry cloth dress as a swimsuit cover-up in the 70's. I wasn't alive then, but I certainly wish I could have seen it on my momma. Once I saw the dress I could instantly picture mom's tiny frame elegantly poised in this flowing, and oh-so retro, maxi dress. At my age (26), my mom was 4 inches taller and 4 pounds lighter than me. She was 5'7" weighing in at 98 pounds dripping wet; certainly not tall enough to be a model, but she could have fooled me. She was just so naturally thin - she even said she ate cake everyday for weeks before her wedding to try and gain weight for her big day (Oh mom, if only I could eat cake everyday and not be able to gain a pound! It certainly would all go to my hips!).

I belted the dress here, because I'd like to imagine that my mom might have belted it from time to time to emphasize her adorably tiny waist. And of course I wore it with some bright red toe nails, because for 26 years I don't remember mom ever wearing any other color.
