Three Generations in a Jacket

*Beth, Sandi, and Breanna (me) - all in our mid-to-late twenties*

Here's my grandma, mom, and me all around the same age. I don't know where Grams was going in that awesome coat, but I know the picture of my mom was taken while she was working at NBC studios. When I look at pictures of my mom or grandma when they were my age, I'm always so amazed at how much older they looked than I do now. Not in a "wow they are old" way, but in a "wow - they were just so much more sophisticated and refined" way. Sometimes I wonder if my generation has lost that touch. Casual is good, but sometimes I think our over-casualness has made us lose part of our voice as a generation (a lost source to express ourselves). Or maybe it's actually really just more proof of the general apathy we feel these days.

Either way though, I'm pretty sure even if I looked more put together like they did, it still somehow wouldn't be as wonderful. Big shoes to fill and little tiny feet, lol. Maybe someday, but for now I just take who I am in stride.

Thinking of you always Momma & Grams,

Bre

A Tribute to Papa

my dad at 4 yrs old (sorry it was just too cute not to include)

With Father's Day right around the corner, I wanted to say Happy Father's Day to my papa and thank you for everything! You have taught me a lot in life, and I have to say you are the most honest and hard working person I have ever met. You are also the biggest busy body I know (I know I inherited that one from you) and also showed me what it really means to love someone (your love for mom is like nothing I have ever seen - we all thought you were so cheesy growing up but now we know how lucky we were to know that you loved her "til the 12th of Never").

Dad's High School Football glory days (he's on the far left)

Dad's Army days

Dad and Mom at the altar

I have so much more to learn from you, and about you (why didn't I know until a few weeks ago that you almost died when you were 4 because you got hit by a motorcyclist and had your head split completely open?). I'm so very looking forward to the visits to come. I love you papa and I'm sending big hugs since I can't be there in person this weekend.

Dad and his love for ice cream go back a long way :)

Oh Dad, I think I have about a million pictures of you dipping mom and smooching her; it was only natural that I slip one of these in here.

Stylish Genes: Pam's Wedding

A couple months ago, I went to visit my parents and found a goldmine: some old polaroids from my Aunt's wedding way back in the day. I can't get over how chic everyone looks in these pictures, and it inspired me to do a post series about the stylish women in my life. So for my first edition here, I am featuring my Aunt Pam's wedding with pictures of my Aunt Pam, my mom (Sandi), and my Grams (Beth).

The picture above features my aunt Pam as the bride, my mom (to her immediately left) as the maid of honor, and the rest of the bridesmaids. I love the tailored bridesmaid dresses and adorable little veils. So chic.

My mom with the preacher (so gorgeous momma!). I love that big flower in her hair, her big doe eyes, and stellar cheekbones - I wish I could have inherited all of this ;).

The bride's dressing room.

And last but not least:

My grandma (Beth) and auntie Pam. Grams looks so adorably chic here. That blue dress, elbow gloves, pillbox hat and jewels....what a knockout! (We miss you tons Grams) And of course Aunt Pam is stunning here too.

My auntie passed from cancer before I was born, but looking at these photos of her and my mom makes me wish I could have seen the sisterly bond they had together. I've heard a lot of great stories (my auntie used to always borrow my mom's Thunderbird and pretend it was hers, lol), and I'm always reminded how grateful I am to have the women I do in my life. I've come from some very great women and am happy to have a little moment of reflection on them.

xox,

Bre
