Tucker for Target

Here's another round of a designer collaboration with Target, and so far I'm liking what I see. Gaby Basora's new Tucker for Target lookbook has a little safari-girl-meets-gorgeous-prints feel and I can only hope the construction is good enough to justify a few purchases here or there (we all know sometimes these designer collabs have great lookbooks and then we are disappointed by poor construction when we see the garments in the store).

I love the full-on grey jumpsuit as an editorial piece (don't think I could wear it in real life) and that adorable orange shirt dress screams SUMMER! The herringbone coat looks amazing too, but I think this collection looks mostly like great inexpensive pieces to pick up for resort wear...any great vacations coming up? Might want to stop on by and check it out in person - it will be at Target until October 17th. I'll keep my fingers crossed that these look great in person too. :)

Zac Posen for Target: Bringing Back the Magic!

Just a couple weeks ago I wrote a post that I was disappointed in a couple designer collaborations for Target because I didn't feel they maintained the designer's true originality and style...but let me tell you I am SO EXCITED about Zac Posen's line! I was flipping through my May Vogue this week and saw the ad and immediately dropped my Vogue and hopped on my computer to check out the official lookbook. And I have to say, job well done Mr. Posen. You managed to keep your originality and design sense, but still price these pieces for the mass market at the same time. How lucky for us ladies with small wallets that still love to watch your runways!

Some people are calling this a "return of the 90's", which I find hilarious because I didn't realize I was old enough to have my "era" come back, lol. Return of the 90's or not, I'm in L-O-V-E. Thank you Mr. Posen for bringing back the magic to the Target designer lines. Here are some of my favorites from the lookbook: This hits stores April 25th. I'd advise you not to miss it. :)

p.s. jr - I don't know what has gotten in to me but I actually adore the look of those socks with these dresses, lol. Maybe it's just something I like for an editorial pic, but wouldn't try in real life...I think it may give me flashbacks of those frilly bobby socks I wore with my dresses as a little girl. :)

Eugenia Kim + Cynthia Vincent for Target = BIG DISAPPOINTMENT

Cynthia Vincent striped flats for Target (I LOVE these, but I'm not crazy about the rest).

I was really really excited to see the lookbooks for Target's latest rounds of designer collaborations with Cynthia Vincent (shoes) and Eugenia Kim (hats). I really adore the striped ballet flats by Cynthia Vincent (as shown above), but I'm pretty disappointed in everything else. I mean there really is nothing wrong with the rest of the shoes by Cynthia Vincent, I suppose some are even kind of cute, but they just don't seem very original to me and I guess I just expected more. A lot more. I will still make my way over there to try on those flats though, I hope they look as amazing in person or I may start losing hope in Target's designer lines.

Now on to Eugenia Kim. This line was even more hyped up than Cynthia Vincent's and when I looked at the official lookbook today I just don't get it. Some of the hats seem like they could be cute but they are just in the wrong color (what's up with the pastel green?). Maybe I really need to see how these look on actual people or maybe I'm just not seeing the vision, but in general...kind of blah. Am I being to harsh here? I really want to be excited about these, but I think I will just have to check out the Cynthia Vincent striped flats and get over the rest.

Jean Paul Gaultier...for Target!

I have to say, Target has managed to pull off both some miracles and some serious disappointments with its series of designer collaborations. A couple years back I almost fainted when I read in the LA Time Image section that Alice Temperley (of Temperley London) would be doing a line for Target. **gasp** I ADORE her clothing, but that is a whole different blog for a different day...to make it short I saw this dress by Temperley London in after-show pics from fashion week in 2005 and spent quite a bit of time hunting down the maker of this beauty.

Needless to say, the day her Target line opened I made my way over there and made out like a bandit with a beautiful pleated black trench, fantastic trademarked Temperley knit vest, suspendered pants, a blue chiffon blouse, and a blue & black tunic sweater dress/shirt. It was one of those ridiculously happy moments. Ever since that time, I make a point to check now and then on Target's newest designer series. Sometimes things look really promising online but can be really disappointing in person (poor construction), but overall it's worth checking out more often than not.

In March's Real Simple magazine I spotted that Jean Paul Gaultier was adding his name to the list of ever-growing Target collaborations so I immediately hopped online to check out the potential. And I must say, there are three pieces that could be totally fabulous and at fabulous prices. As long as the construction is well-made, that little trench coat above will be mine! It is the perfect replacement for the black jacket I have been wearing this winter, and a great transition in to Spring.

Here are my other two favorites: an eyelet dress (although I would style this differently) and a super cute shirt-dress (but please nix the tights). Intrigued? It couldn't be more perfect timing; JPG's line will be available as of March 7th! I'd advise you to go check it out too (just don't steal the last trench if you live in Irvine please).
